Uslada: Il Ritorno della Dolcezza — A Special Two-Day Exhibition at Dolce La Hulpe

Uslada will return to Belgium on May 30 and 31 to present her work at the elegant Hotel Dolce La Hulpe, as part of the Parcours des Artistes de La Hulpe.

The exhibition is titled Uslada: Il Ritorno della Dolcezza.

The name, translated into English as Return of sweetness, creates a beautiful linguistic bridge: the Italian word dolce (sweet) resonates directly with the Russian uslada, which carries meanings of sweetness, delight, and deep pleasure (read the artist statement The World Needs More Uslada). Together, they evoke a soulful sweetness — at once tender and powerfully alive — that feeds the heart and awakens inner joy.

Since the artist now lives in the Italian-speaking Ticino region of Switzerland, this title forms a natural bridge between her present life and her artistic roots in Belgium. At the heart of the Dolce La Hulpe, nestled in the majestic Sonian Forest, Uslada’s paintings will dialogue with sculptures and installations by fellow participating artists. Together, they will create a space of beauty and reflection within this refined, verdant setting — a beautiful haven south of Brussels where nature and elegance gracefully meet, welcoming visitors from around the world.

This location holds particular resonance for the artist. Her artistic journey began in Belgium when she moved from Brussels to the nearby region, drawn into closer contact with nature. One and a half years after she started painting, she met the renowned Belgian philosopher and art writer Marcel Paquet. Paquet, who was a close personal friend to many major 20th-century masters including René Magritte, Fernando Botero, Jean Dubuffet, Paul Delvaux, Bram Bogart, Alexander Calder, and Joan Miró, became an early and passionate supporter of her work. He dedicated a philosophical essay to her oeuvre and remained a strong advocate until his passing in 2014. This meaningful endorsement marked a significant moment in the artist’s career.

Since those formative beginnings, Uslada’s art has unfolded toward broader international horizons. This return to the region where her path started feels both intimate and expansive — a homecoming that carries the sweetness of memory and the promise of new encounters.

Because the exhibition will be on view for only two days, it offers a rare opportunity to experience the works in person. This quiet celebration of art, roots, and the gentle power of beauty marks a meaningful return for Uslada to the Belgian artistic scene where her journey began.
