Imaginal symbolism

Uslada, an international artist currently based in Lugano, Switzerland works in a distinctive style that she calls Imaginal Symbolism - bold, symbolic works in which vivid archetypes are woven into mystical narratives. Praised by Marcel Paquet, a Belgian philosopher and author of many books about such well-known artists as Magritte, Miró, Botero and Calder in the early stages of her artistic parcours, Uslada’s art has evolved into a medium for exploring the mystical aspects of life and the human soul. Uslada was born in Riga, Latvia and lives in Switzerland. • “Every form dissimulates the endless movement of the forces which compose it; Uslada brings these forces to light, and gives visual expression to their vibrations, their dancing, whirling intricacy.”

Marcel Paquet, Belgian philosopher and art writer

  • “Kandinsky’s spirit lives. Bold colors. Flights of imagination. Enchanting light and joyful images. All of those Kandinsky hallmarks can be discovered in the flowers, fish, “paradise of sounds,” magic spells, and the intoxicating rhythms of Uslada, an East European born artist daring to combine whimsical fascinations with luminous “meditative” journeys into Nature and the soul. But more than a colorist attuned to butterflies and flamboyant explorations of life’s confounding verities, Uslada takes us on an uplifting ascent with her “paintings from the heart.” She leads us towards dreamscapes, to a lush canvas alive with inspiration and freedom-loving imagery."

    Edward Kiersh, American journalist

  • “This exhibition [The Imaginal World of Uslada] is a fascinating opportunity to engage with a unique artistic interpretation of reality.”
